Shine On
August 11, 2009
Bright shining Morning Star
How glorious you are
You illuminate the darkness
And make my heart whole
Jesus, I’m so in Awe
Of every place you’ve taken me
Of everything I saw
You were always there to remind me
Of all the beauty behind the veil
Lord, You never fail
To amaze my glossy eyes
And mystify my mind
Saturated in your love
My hands go high above
To the sky in holy praise
Until the very end of days
I want to be a shining light
Filled only with your grace
Keeping strong in your word
And forever keeping pace
With the way you showed love
So humble, pure, and true
I will always stand tall
As I permanently stand for you, Lord Jesus!

The Sands of Rhyme
July 24, 2009
In an hour-glass of time
Each grain of sand lends a rhyme
As they pile upon one another
And they accumulate forever
One piece of brown sand at a time
But by and by
Without understanding the why
The specks of dust pile up against us
More of a friend than a foe
Because through the sand we know
All the patience it takes to watch them
And hum along to their tune
Hour after hour and day after day
With an open heart we hear Him say
Keep the sand in your toes
And the poetry of laughter on the wind of time

Eyes Wide
January 13, 2009
I’m taking my first breath,
Alive and finally awake.
Heart pumping fresh blood,
And it’s all for Your sake.
The day light tightens my retina,
It’s finally shinning through,
My eyes now fixed on living,
My soul now filled with You.
When the guilt was too high,
For my eyes to see the sky,
Your hand cleared the fog,
To show my mind why.
We are here in this place,
Fueled by Your grace,
To love our neighbor,
and nurture ourselves.
A carpenter of life,
You’re a true craftsman of the Divine,
And solely by your hand,
May my life finally shine,
With the light of the Holy Spirit,
May I look all around,
With my eyes now wide open,
To witness the profound,
Hand of God giving me new sight.

Worthy
December 19, 2008
When I’m down and out
You show me its all about
Me, just being stuck in my head
When I should be putting
Your will first instead.
Taking the bread,
Which is Your body,
And drinking the wine,
Which is Your blood,
You wash over and thru me,
Like a flood of grace.
I kiss Your holy face,
And place my fingers on your scars.
That freed me from the bars,
I was locked behind in sin.
When I don’t look for your ways.
Heals over head I tumble.
When my eyes lose focus of what matters,
It’s so easy for me to stumble,
And my old ways show.
But you’re so beautiful to know,
When my eyes fall upon you.
So loving, so worthy, and true
It’s all I can do,
I surrender.
Can’t fathom to part,
From the new life you’ve brought me,
For all I have, you’ve given,
Sacrifice secured my eternity.
With Thee,
Forever.

Bread Crumbs of Blood
December 17, 2008
Do I prick my own finger,
To show this world I can feel?
Or should I take my own life,
In order to prove You are real?
Do I swallow my pride,
Stop trying to hide?
Or should I grip the hand,
That reaches out to hold me?
As I pack my bags,
Should I see what I can be?
Be guided by my own hand,
Let fear follow me?
This journey of life,
Can only go one of two ways,
The road I pave,
Or follow Your light that saves.
It still feels easier to create,
Than it does to believe,
I let the dead skin of pride,
Fall like leaves of a tree.
In the heart of Fall,
But through it all,
I still struggle,
Beating my head to the wall.
If I can understand,
Just a fraction,
Of your will,
I can feel out Your way.
Allowing Your guiding.
And stop fighting,
When I’m abiding by Your laws.
And working for Your cause.
With my carried pack of pain,
And personal consequence,
I long for home and redemption.
But through this tension,
I can sense,
What stands between us is my own.
Guided by your map,
And bread crumbs of blood,
I let go to the flood,
And return to your forgiving arms forever.
Amen

Home Sweet
November 28, 2008
When your home is where He is,
There’s nothing that can stop this,
Big rock from spinning round and round,
In the palm of His hand.
Where the questions cannot stand,
Even through the test of time,
The reason why the sun can shine,
Inside His other hand.
As we band together on Calvary,
Every man will drop to their knees,
And place their hands in His.
We’ll feel His scars,
That took away ours,
And washed us clean,
With the love of His hands.
But when there’s no place like home,
The Father’s grace has shown,
That ours is right here,
In His hands.

Tick-Tock
November 26, 2008
This life’s what I got,
I’ll take my shot,
To live for Him,
Swallow pride and give in,
Surrendering fully to His will.
To be fulfilled,
And to be lifted,
By God’s hand I’ve been gifted,
In many ways,
And it brightens these days,
That grow shorter with each passing moon.
No buffoon,
I know that time is against me,
In some missions.
A few visions have already passed me by.
My long lost friends know why,
I should have spoken to them,
About Him.
It can still be on my good side,
The tide of time I ride,
And there’s new ears out there to listen,
With the praises of God,
May their fresh eyes glisten.
And see the path that lies before their feet.
May we take to the street,
With passion and love,
That rises above,
Any delusions we had in our minds.
Through Christ may we find,
All the answers we need,
The absence of greed,
And abundance in His arms forever.
And where ever,
He sends me I will stand with honor,
By the grace of my Father,
Rising above any wall,
May my sling and rock fall,
Whatever giants stand before me.

To the King
November 13, 2008
Living in the world,
In patience I can wait,
Longing for its owner,
His hand guides my fate.
Surviving on the mother,
I long inside to show her,
My heart standing for love,
And all I have to offer.
The Father and His kingdom,
Unlock our present freedom.
Bondage now released,
As we share His feast,
Gathering around the table,
Of Christ our Lord.
The God of man,
Who’s blood washed clean,
The sin on the surface,
And secrets still unseen.
I swept away my idols,
Taking Gods servant,
As my title;
I wear it proudly on my sleeve.
His spirit will not leave,
Even the darkest shadows,
Quiver in belief.
He takes back my soul,
And now that I’m fulfilled,
His craftsmanship can build,
Off the grace,
Of His Holy Spirit,
As He so wills it.
I find myself locked in,
I bear His mark,
His seal that binds me,
In God’s book of life,
And so,
Without strife,
As I rejoice,
I choose to sing it,
Hallelujah Jehovah
I sing amen to my King!
Through
October 10, 2008
I’m letting go of darker times
In hopes of grabbing some bright days
I’m searchin’ my ways
Releasin’ what does not serve me
I hold what serves me well
I climb out of this hell
And break the shell
I was once trapped in
Done with the chains
The odd and hurtful ways
I can no longer take feeling pinned
The escape I thought was a lie
The hollowness in my gut
Cries a long needed goodbye
The dust has settled around me
The gloom and fog have past
The hold on my heart wont last
I’m free
Free to see what the future will hold with out it
I stand with Christ as I’m on my own two now
Like I always should have been
Kickin’ the habit and its ties
A test I have now passed
I’m truly through
Through the pain and over the past
My heart is lifted
The memories have drifted
It’s true
I’m through
And now I’m free
Content with me
By the grace of He
I can say goodbye to my old ways
And the lonesome days that once trapped me
Sobriety in the good Lord has saved thee

Willingly Waiting
October 5, 2008
My arms are raised to give glory
So in awe of your majesty
This heart beats only to praise you
Lord, please bless me with your mercy
Fill me with your Presence
While your light shows me the way
I hand each moment over to you, God
As you guide me through each day
There is no gain without knowledge
All knowledge comes from grace
I invoke the eyes of Jesus
To see His Spirit in this place
Longing to be innocent
As white and pure as snow
Praying only for His will, not mine
His Word will let me know
The bridges to cross
Which roads to take
The bends to avoid
And where to drive stakes
I set up camp in His space
Waiting for the time
That He’ll call on me to do His will
Through me He will shine
